Overview
Forrestal Capital was formed in 2003 as a business and financial adviser to the selling shareholders of Panamerican Beverages (Panamco), a Coca-Cola bottler operating in Latin America; founding partner Annette Franqui was Panamco's CFO from April 2001 until its sale. In 2007 it advised one of its clients on the acquisition of McDonald's operations in Latin America and the Caribbean, the business later listed on the NYSE as Arcos Dorados. Speaking at a 2014 family-office forum, Franqui said Forrestal makes both direct investments, where it knows the sector, and investments through private equity funds, for example in US energy and financial services, and that in Latin America it prefers specialised managers to large private equity firms.
Investment thesis
Invests directly where it knows the business, because that is where it sees the higher return, and through specialised fund managers in areas where it lacks expertise; prefers to co-invest as a majority partner with a defined exit.
