WHAT IT IS

Government-backed Fund. Public money — a state or EU-backed vehicle investing on behalf of taxpayers, often with policy goals.

ABOUT

Gepafin S.p.A. is the regional finance company of Umbria, 56% owned by Regione Umbria directly and through Sviluppumbria, with ten banks operating in the region holding the remaining 44%. It is registered as a financial intermediary under article 106 of the Italian Banking Act. It supports SMEs with operations in Umbria through guarantees on bank loans, participative and direct loans, bond subscriptions and risk-capital interventions in equity or quasi-equity, using its own funds and regional and EU-funded instruments. Since 2020 its activity has shifted from guarantees towards loans and risk-capital interventions under the region's COVID-19 emergency calls.
