Overview
SODERCAN is a public company of the Government of Cantabria, created in 1984 to support business development, innovation and internationalisation in the region; its site lists grant lines, advisory, internationalisation and innovation programmes alongside its financing instruments. Its Start Up Capital Cantabria programme provides convertible participative loans from €25,000 to €250,000 by stage, and can also take minority stakes below 45% and up to €250,000 for up to 10 years. Separately, it can take temporary minority shareholdings of 5–45% in projects located in Cantabria, held for two to ten years with an exit price set at entry.
Investment thesis
Solid, high-growth, innovative projects located in Cantabria with committed promoters; SODERCAN never contributes more capital than the entrepreneurs and stays a temporary minority shareholder.
