Overview
Santander Alternative Investments is the alternative-investment manager of Santander Asset Management, launched in May 2023 and registered with the CNMV as an SGIIC. It runs four strategies: private debt (trade finance, working capital and direct lending to companies and SMEs in Europe and Latin America), infrastructure (infrastructure debt plus direct investment in solar and wind projects and early-stage European climate-tech companies), real estate (debt and equity, including coliving) and multi-strategy, including a fund of private-equity buyout and growth funds. Its funds are sold to private-banking and institutional clients, with Banco Santander as anchor investor in the climate-tech fund.
Investment thesis
Use Santander's origination network to give clients access to private credit, infrastructure, real-estate and fund-of-funds strategies; climate strategy combines direct solar and wind projects with early-stage European climate-tech companies (SFDR Articles 9 and 8).
