WHAT IT IS

Accelerator / Studio. Accelerators and venture studios that invest their own or programme capital in very early companies, for equity.

ABOUT

Hook is a pre-seed programme from 42 Entrepreneurs, supported by the 42 coding school, for teams with at least one founder from the 42 network (exceptions possible). Its three-month batch gives each selected startup €50K in cash for 5% of the company through a SAFE, followed by mentoring, weekly founder dinners and a demo day in front of investors. A four-week “Co-founder Boat” in Paris helps individuals form teams that can then pitch to Hook’s investment committee for the same terms. The site says it runs two batches a year and selects 8 to 12 startups per batch.

INVESTMENT THESIS

Sector-agnostic; selects on team, execution and market rather than idea, with a preference for technical “hacker” founders from the 42 community.
