WHAT IT IS

Corporate VC. A corporation investing from its own balance sheet, usually with strategic goals.

ABOUT

Amorim Cork Ventures was set up by Corticeira Amorim in 2014 as a business incubator to promote entrepreneurship and innovation in cork, with about €1 million earmarked for the incubation phase from late 2014 and the first startups in early 2015. Its site said it invested in cork startups and offered financing, prototyping facilities and access to Corticeira Amorim's know-how and network. Its 2017 site reported 300 projects analysed and 19 supported, and its portfolio listed ASPORTUGUESAS, Grõwancork, SUGO CORK RUGS and YogurtNest. Its own domain now redirects to amorim.com, where a Corticeira Amorim page still presents ACV with ASPORTUGUESAS and Sugo Cork Rugs; a business registry lists the company as inactive.
