Overview
Cofinex is the holding through which the eight children of José Cosmen Adelaida, whose family built the bus operator ALSA, manage their group; Jorge Cosmen is its most visible member. ALSA was integrated into the British National Express Group (NEX) in exchange for shares; in 2019 the family’s 13.5% of NEX, held through two UK companies that hang from Cofinex, was the bulk of its wealth. NEX has since been renamed Mobico Group; in December 2023 the family raised its stake, held through European Express Enterprises, from 12% to 17.3%. Cofinex spreads its investments across Pressto dry cleaners, AC Hotels by Marriott, venture capital manager Torsa, Thomil, Industrias Lácteas Asturianas, Climastar and the Grupo Ardasa car dealerships, among others.
