Overview
Fimalac was created in 1991 by Marc Ladreit de Lacharrière, formerly deputy CEO of L'Oréal, and is now 100% controlled by him. It built LB Chimie, Sofres and Fitch Ratings, selling its last 20% of Fitch to Hearst in April 2018 for $2.8bn. Today it has four activities: digital media through Webedia (acquired 2013), live entertainment through its Paris theatres, private equity as the main shareholder with a 5% stake in the Warburg Pincus partnership, and real estate of about 60,000 m² in Paris, London (Canary Wharf) and New York. In 2026 it sold its regional event halls and Salle Pleyel to GL events and took a 1% stake in GL events.
