Overview

Gannet Partners grew out of the alternative-investment programme of Grupo NUMA, the Sanz Gras family office set up in 2007, whose business roots go back to a Barcelona car workshop opened by Pedro Castellón in 1929. The family office has run a private equity programme since 2011 and a real estate debt programme, which Gannet now opens to institutional and private investors; its manager, Gannet Partners SGEIC, was entered in the CNMV register in November 2022. It has three divisions: Gannet Private Equity (concentrated commitments to US lower-mid-market buyout managers, starting with Gannet Buyout Partners I, in which Grupo NUMA made a significant commitment), Gannet Real Estate Debt (Spanish mortgage debt and NPLs) and Gannet Natural Capital (olive, almond and citrus farmland). Press reproduced on its site puts the family's managed assets at €150m.

Investment thesis

Private equity: a concentrated portfolio of US lower-middle-market fund managers focused on organic growth and disciplined leverage. Real estate debt: small and mid-sized Spanish mortgage-debt and special-situation positions with low LTVs. Natural capital: sustainable, regenerative Mediterranean crops (olive, almond, citrus) through funds, direct deals and co-investments.
