Overview
HQ Trust is the multi family office of the Harald Quandt family, founded in 2006 under the Harald Quandt Holding, which has managed the descendants' wealth since 1981. Its bank-independent services have long been open to other families, foundations, church institutions and institutional investors, mainly pension schemes. At end-2025 it reported more than €20bn of assets under management, more than €50bn under advice, over 180 clients and 115 staff in Bad Homburg and Düsseldorf. In alternatives it selects managers across private equity, private debt, real estate, infrastructure and hedge funds, and offers annual HQT Vintage private-equity funds of funds; it reports more than €2.4bn of private-equity commitments and over 85 funds subscribed since 2013.
Investment thesis
Long-term, diversified wealth management across all asset classes with a strong alternatives allocation; in private equity it bundles each calendar year's fund commitments (mostly buyout, some growth, 20–30% secondaries; mainly North America and Europe) into a vintage fund so clients can build exposure steadily over time.
