Overview
The Hanseatic Group traces its roots to the Salomon family's long interest in financial services, including control of Rea Brothers from the 1950s. Through Hansa Capital Partners LLP (London, set up in 2004) and Hanseatic Asset Management LBG (Guernsey) it builds discretionary portfolios, mostly through third-party funds, and manages the Hansa Global Equity Fund, the Hansa Harbour Fund and Hansa Investment Company Limited. Its history includes a 58% stake in Ocean Wilsons Holdings bought in 1958, which it says is still held.
Investment thesis
Aims to protect and grow capital over the long term through portfolios diversified across asset classes and geographies, implemented mainly through active and passive third-party funds and less liquid assets such as private equity.
