Overview
Invitalia is Italy’s national development agency, wholly owned by the Ministry of Economy and Finance. Most of its work is managing national business incentives and acting as a central purchasing body, but it also runs public private-equity vehicles: the Fondo Salvaguardia Imprese, set up by decree-law 34/2020 with an initial €300M and later increased, takes minority stakes of up to €30M in companies in difficulty alongside private investors; the Fondo Cresci al Sud takes mainly minority stakes of €1–10M in southern SMEs; and the Fondo di partecipazione MUR, about €219M, invests through selected financial operators. It owns 30% of CDP Venture Capital SGR.
