Overview

Argos is an independent European private equity group, active since 1989, that acquires mainly majority stakes in mid-sized companies and invests €15M–€100M per deal through two strategies: Argos Mid-Market and Argos Climate Action, an SFDR Article 9 “grey-to-green” decarbonisation buyout fund. It operates in France, Italy, DACH and Benelux from offices in Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Milan and Paris, and reports over €2.5bn of assets under management and more than 75 professionals. In September 2026 it closed Argos Mid-Market IX at €736M.

Investment thesis

Predominantly majority positions in European companies with EBITDA of €10M–€30M and enterprise values of €50M–€250M, with strong fundamentals and solid market positions; limited financial leverage, active ownership and cross-border add-ons. Climate Action targets companies whose growth can be accelerated through a decarbonisation plan, with a commitment to reduce portfolio carbon intensity by at least 7.5% a year.
