ABOUT
ECS is a Lisbon-based private investment manager founded in 2006, initially as a generalist growth/buyout private equity fund manager, which shifted from 2009 into corporate distressed debt and from 2012 into real estate distressed debt, later focusing on repositioning and monetising the assets it acquired. In December 2022 a consortium led by investment funds advised by Davidson Kempner Capital Management completed the acquisition of ECS. It invests across three strategies: real estate (hotels and resorts, offices, residential, industrial, retail and land), corporate private equity and special situations. Its published track record consists largely of completed exits, including the Hilton Vilamoura and Hilton Porto Gaia hotels, Conrad Algarve, the Vale do Lobo and Salgados resorts, the Torres de Lisboa and FPM41 office assets, wind-energy producer Iberwind and insurance-software company I2S. The firm is led by CEO Manuel Noronha Andrade and CFO João Pereira Martins, both of whom joined ECS's founding team in 2007.
