Overview

Sosteneo SGR was founded in partnership with Generali Investments and authorised by the Bank of Italy in 2023; it is part of Generali Investments' platform of asset management firms. It invests in clean-energy infrastructure at or near the construction-ready stage, after development risk and before operation, with a focus on battery energy storage, hybrid generation, grids and industrial decarbonisation. Fund I (Sosteneo Clean Energy Infrastructure Fund) closed in August 2025 with over €620m of commitments plus €80m of co-investment and is fully invested; Fund II targets €1bn and had raised €300m by August 2026.

Investment thesis

Construction-ready energy-transition infrastructure with contracted cash flows — standalone utility-scale BESS, grid upgrades, hybrid solar/wind/storage, tailored supply for energy-intensive users and industrial decarbonisation — managed actively from construction to operational maturity, with a European focus for Fund II.
