Overview

WA4STEAM is a non-profit association of women angel investors set up in 2018 by participants in an EU-funded women business angels programme at IESE. Its members invest seed capital in women-led startups in science, technology, engineering, arts and architecture, and mathematics. Deals are screened at a monthly pipeline meeting, members interested in a project run due diligence, and investments are made through the WA4STEAM investment vehicle. As shown on its site (read 2026-10-07), members have invested €3.8M in 36 startups over 71 funding rounds; member count and average ticket differ between page versions (see notes).

Investment thesis

Pre-seed and seed startups already incorporated, at a pre-money valuation of up to €8M, with women founders or co-founders holding at least 20% of the equity (10% for spin-offs), in STEAM sectors, incorporated in Spain or a eurozone EU country (a lead investor is required outside Spain).
