Overview

PERSEO is Iberdrola’s open innovation and startup investment programme, created in 2008, with its first investment in 2009. Iberdrola states more than €200 million invested through a portfolio of startups, new companies created by PERSEO Venture Builder (launched 2020), and commitments to the Seaya Andromeda Sustainable Tech Fund and Buenavista’s tech seed fund. The investment page lists nine current startups out of 27 companies backed since 2008; two portfolio companies, Wallbox and Stem, went public in 2021. The programme also runs challenges and some 25 pilots a year, which are not investments.

Investment thesis

Startups whose technologies or business models improve the sustainability of the energy sector through electrification and decarbonisation and have short-term impact on Iberdrola’s businesses; €1–5M tickets, co-investing with companies and venture funds.
