Overview
Repsol Corporate Venturing has invested Repsol’s own capital in technology startups since 2016; in 2022 its activity continued as Repsol Deep Tech, a wholly owned vehicle with €50 million for technologies at early stages with potential for the energy transition. It invests in three areas: low-carbon and circular economy, mobility and renewable generation, and digital asset optimisation, and offers portfolio companies testing at the Repsol Technology Lab. Repsol states a portfolio of more than 20 startups and reviews over 1,000 a year. Repsol is also an LP in Israel-focused Cardumen Capital and committed €50M to Net Zero Tech Ventures, managed by Suma Capital.
Investment thesis
Minority stakes in startups with technologies at early stages of development but high potential for the energy transition, in low-carbon and circular economy, mobility and renewable generation, and digital asset optimisation, with validation at Repsol Technology Lab and in Repsol’s industrial assets.
