Overview
The KZVK is the supplementary pension fund of the Catholic dioceses' association, a public-law institution in Köln founded in 1976. Its investments had a book value of €29.94bn and a market value of €30.37bn at end-2025. In 2025 it kept building private equity, infrastructure, private debt and real estate through fund investments: in private equity mostly by subscribing successor funds of existing partners plus new partners, including a fund investing in Japanese companies; in infrastructure worldwide, including Asia, digital infrastructure and energy specialists; and in private debt through a European target fund and a first European growth-finance partner. At end-2025 it had €3.12bn of open commitments to investment funds. Its 2025 report also highlights a stake, alongside a North American specialist, in a Texas solar park and an Arizona solar-and-storage project, a private-placement bond of a large municipal utility, and three residential buildings near Stockholm bought through a fund where it is the sole investor; since 2019 it has also run an impact niche in microfinance, small-business private equity and an agricultural fund.
