Komplementa Investment Partners SGR is an independent Milan-based private equity management company focused on the Italian lower mid-market. Its founders are Michele Foppiani, Maurizio Esposito (CEO, formerly CEO of Credem Private Equity SGR for 20 years), Giorgio Antichi and Tiziana Gargiulio. In September 2025, a few months after Banca d'Italia authorisation, it held a €70M first close of the Komplementa Mid-Market fund, against a €150M target, with entrepreneurs, family offices and professional investors and with funds of funds managed by Fondo Italiano di Investimento SGR as cornerstone investor.
Investment thesis
Mainly majority stakes, with or without leverage, in Italian family-owned lower-mid-market SMEs with indicative EBITDA of €3–10M; qualified minority stakes only if largely through capital increases for growth; buy-and-build and international expansion; sectors ICT and digital services, industrial and manufacturing, healthcare and personal care, food and high-value B2B services; target portfolio of 6–7 investments.
