Overview

NEXX Capital, until April 2025 HQ Equita, was founded in 1991 by the family office of the Harald Quandt family, which initially pooled the capital of Harald Quandt's descendants, and has since grown into a private equity investor with a broad base of entrepreneurial and institutional investors across five fund generations. In 2024 it was spun out of the Harald Quandt group in a GP-led transaction in which Verdane acquired a significant minority in Fund V and in the management company NEXX Capital GmbH. It takes majority (situationally minority) stakes in profitable DACH Mittelstand companies in industrial technology, business and IT services, software and healthcare, especially medtech, via succession (MBO/MBI), growth financing, shareholder changes and carve-outs. It reports roughly €1bn of cumulative commitments since founding and more than 45 investments including add-ons.

Investment thesis

Partners with resilient, established DACH Mittelstand companies with an expandable position in growing markets, clear differentiation and a qualified management team; EBITDA above about €3M at margins above 10%, with buy-and-build add-ons.
