Overview

Deeptek Gipuzkoa Fundazioa is a foundation set up by the Diputación Foral de Gipuzkoa and Kutxa Fundazioa to finance deeptech companies in Gipuzkoa. It was renamed in April 2025 from Fundación Biozientziak Gipuzkoa, which had invested €4.5M in 17 biosciences companies through convertible participative loans, and widened its scope to AI, quantum technologies, new materials, biotechnology and blockchain with a new €5M commitment (€2.55M from Kutxa Fundazioa, €2.45M from the Diputación). It lends up to €350,000 per project as a convertible participative loan at Euribor + 0% over 10 years, released against milestones, and BIC Gipuzkoa acts as its operating body. In July 2026 it announced a deeptech venture-building programme with Columbus Venture Partners and BeAble as partners.

Investment thesis

Deeptech business projects at TRL 4–6 in Gipuzkoa (quantum computing, new materials, AI and advanced algorithms, robotics, therapeutics, diagnostics, industrial biotech, medical equipment, clean technologies), funded for up to 70% of project cost with the aim of attracting private investment within about two years.
