Overview

Investisseurs & Partenaires (I&P) was founded in 2002 by Patrice Hoppenot, former co-founding managing partner of BC Partners, and was led by Jean-Michel Severino from 2011 to 2021; since 2021 it has been co-led by Sébastien Boyé and Jérémy Hajdenberg. It finances and supports African SMEs through I&P Expansion (the IPAE funds, minority equity and quasi-equity), I&P Accélération (seed programmes), I&P Développement (sponsoring African fund managers) and a fund-of-funds line that manages FASA. The group has about 80 staff in eight offices (Cameroon, Côte d’Ivoire, France, Ghana, Kenya, Madagascar, Senegal, Uganda), states €480M raised and has backed more than 200 SMEs in about twenty countries.

Investment thesis

African SMEs that are locally managed, formal and showing value-creation and impact prospects, with a focus on West Africa, Central Africa and the Indian Ocean; seed financing under €300k (I&P Accélération), €300k–€3M (I&P Expansion), and €1M–€5M minority equity or quasi-equity for 15–20 SMEs in West Africa and Madagascar from IPAE 3; climate and gender (2X Challenge) priorities.
