WHAT IT IS
Private Equity Fund. A fund manager investing limited-partner capital into mature private companies.
ABOUT
Silver Investment Partners has invested since 2009 as an entrepreneurial equity investor in small and mid-sized companies in Germany, Austria and Switzerland, and says it has given 16 Mittelstand companies a long-term home. Its capital comes from entrepreneur families, entrepreneurial private individuals and one institutional investor, and it deliberately avoids the fixed-term fund structure typical of private equity so that it can hold investments for a long time. It invests sector-agnostically in succession cases, shareholder changes, growth financing, MBI/MBO and occasionally carve-outs, taking majority or minority stakes. It was co-founded by Philipp Amereller and Mark Elborn, both formerly of Cognetas (ex Electra Partners Europe).
INVESTMENT THESIS
Industry-leading DACH Mittelstand companies, often niche hidden champions, with €5–50m revenue (add-ons from €1m), defensible differentiation in growing markets and growth or consolidation potential; €5–30m equity, majority or minority; experience in niche industrial manufacturing, software, healthcare/pharma, industrial services, direct sales and education. Excludes automotive, real estate, commodities, banks, insurers, utilities, early-stage start-ups and restructurings.
