Overview

amberra is the corporate venturing studio of the Genossenschaftliche FinanzGruppe Volksbanken Raiffeisenbanken, operating since April 2023 and owned by the BVR, Atruvia, DZ BANK group companies, DG Nexolution, VR-NetWorld and regional cooperative holding companies. It invests in start-ups (venture capital), cooperates with them (venture clienting) and builds new businesses with cooperative banks (venture building). Its BaFin-registered amberra Fonds, set up in March 2024 and managed by amberra Management GmbH (registered AIFM under § 2(4) KAGB), reached its €100 million final close in February 2026 with around 180 cooperative banks and group companies as investors. The fund focuses on Series A rounds in the DACH region in housing, health, sustainability and regional economy.

Investment thesis

Strategic investor for the cooperative banking group: Series A (and revenue-generating seed) start-ups in DACH with impact in four 'Lebenswelten' — housing, health, sustainability and regional economy — that can be rolled out through the ~650 cooperative banks and their ~30 million customers; strategic fit with the FinanzGruppe is decisive. Plans up to 20 holdings by 2028.
