ABOUT

German Media Pool (GMPVC German Media Pool GmbH) is a Berlin-based independent media-for-equity fund founded in 2011. It pools advertising inventory from more than 45 media partners across TV, radio, out of home, print and online and invests it, at partner pricing, in venture-backed consumer-facing startups in exchange for equity, holding all shares centrally on behalf of its media partners. It co-invests on the same terms as VC partners, does not lead rounds or normally take board seats, and focuses on Series A or later. An associated cash fund, GMPVC Opportunities I (€15 million, first close 2022, backed by family offices and media groups), makes follow-on and selected seed investments.

INVESTMENT THESIS

Invests €0.5–5 million of net media per deal (more possible) in consumer-facing, venture-funded companies from seed onwards but mainly Series A or later, across commerce, mobility, health and wellness, pets, food, agetech, fintech and pro-planet businesses; invests only where partners' media fits the company's customer-acquisition strategy.
