Overview
Picus Capital was founded in 2015 by Alexander Samwer, who co-founded Rocket Internet with his brothers, together with Jeremias Heinrich. It describes itself as a privately financed venture capital investor with flexible long-term capital, investing from pre-seed through Series A and, via a growth team, later stages, in energy and climate, fintech, enterprise infrastructure and cybersecurity, generative AI and healthcare. Its website counts 170+ investments across 20+ countries and lists offices in Munich, London and New York, and it says it was the first investor in Personio and Enpal. In December 2025 it announced a €150M preferred equity financing from Carlyle AlpInvest and said it had earlier closed the oversubscribed Picus Venture Fund II at its €250M hard cap, more than double its predecessor fund; it also refers to a Picus Growth Fund.
Investment thesis
