Overview
BM H Beteiligungs-Managementgesellschaft Hessen mbH was founded in 2001 as a wholly owned subsidiary of WIBank to pool public equity financing in Hessen; it is now a subsidiary of Landesbank Hessen-Thüringen and is tied into the Land's economic development through WIBank. It manages several funds whose money comes, depending on the fund, from the Land Hessen, the federal government, the EU or private investors, and invests through silent and open participations in Hessian start-ups, SMEs and succession deals. Its September 2025 company presentation cites more than €450M of assets in six funds, over 200 portfolio companies and up to €10M per company across all funds.
Investment thesis
Silent and open equity for Hessian companies across the life cycle, from seed and start-up to growth, later stage and succession, with no sector focus; long-term support of the regional economy rather than exit-driven investing.
