Overview
Région Sud Investissement (RSI) is a private-law SAS whose sole shareholder is the Région Sud Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur, co-financed by the Region and the European Regional Development Fund (FEDER). It invests in equity or quasi-equity in regional SMEs from seed to development capital, always as a co-investor on the same terms as private investors. It states it has backed more than 415 companies and worked with more than 200 co-investors. It was launched in 2011 as “SAS Provence-Alpes-Côte d’Azur investissements” with €15.45M of public capital, including €6M from FEDER.
Investment thesis
Co-invest pari passu with private investors in regional SMEs at seed, venture and development stages, where private funding is insufficient, with priority to the Region’s strategic sectors (OIR): naturalité, smart tech, industry of the future, energy, maritime economy, defence/security, innovative therapies, tourism and creative industries, silver economy; projects must have a positive or neutral climate impact.
