ABOUT

Atlantic (atlantic.vc, formerly Atlantic Labs) is a Berlin venture capital firm managed by Atlantic Labs Manager GmbH. It grew out of the angel investing of founder Christophe Maire (Gate5) and was set up as an institutional fund manager in 2016 with Marc-Olivier Lücke. It leads first rounds, mainly pre-seed, of European teams, with current themes AI & Compute, Industrial & Robotics, Energy & Climate and Space & Security. It says it has backed 200+ startups, facilitated 30+ university spinouts and had 30+ exits, including Plantix, Malt and Rows.

INVESTMENT THESIS

Writes the first cheque, always as lead investor, for founders building technology 'beyond the edge of the known'; focus themes AI & Compute, Industrial & Robotics, Energy & Climate and Space & Security; decisions in 24 hours to 2 weeks; hands-on help with hiring and follow-on fundraising. Does not invest in food-value-chain topics (left to FoodLabs).
