Overview

Future Energy Ventures (FEV) is a Berlin-based venture capital advisor for digital, asset-light energy technologies, founded in 2016; the team page describes it as the former innogy Innovation Hub, and its partners previously worked at RWE, innogy and E.ON (including E.ON's CVC arm and innogy Ventures). Its sweet spot is Series A and later companies with product-market fit at the intersection of energy, electrification and frontier technologies, investing €1–5 million at Series A and €5–10 million at later stages. Future Energy Ventures GmbH is a BaFin-supervised securities institution that advises the AIFM of Future Energy Ventures Fund I SCA SICAV-RAIF and Fund II. Fund II closed in late 2025 at €205 million, plus a €30 million Italian vehicle financed by CDP, with E.ON SE and the EIF as anchor investors.

Investment thesis

Invests in platforms, intelligence and technologies that let electrified, software-defined energy systems run efficiently at scale: storage, grid intelligence and energy optimisation; digitisation of buildings, transport and industry; and frontier tech (AI, cybersecurity, robotics, advanced computing) that enables new energy and infrastructure models. Leads rounds case by case and offers portfolio companies access to a network of corporate energy partners.
