Overview

Capnamic is an early-stage venture capital firm headquartered in Köln, with people in Berlin and Munich, investing from pre-seed to Series A in technology startups from the German-speaking region. It started as a multi-corporate VC and says more than 100 limited partners, including corporates, institutions and founders, invest in its funds; it reports about EUR 350m of capital under management and 44 active investments. Its funds are Capnamic I (USD 45m), Capnamic II (USD 130m) and Capnamic III (USD 215m, closed March 2022). In 2024 it held the first closing of a Bremen regional venture fund under its Specialty Funds line, anchored by Bremer Aufbau-Bank and Sparkasse Bremen.

Investment thesis

Invests early, from pre-product to first revenues, in pre-seed, seed and Series A rounds of tech startups from Germany and the German-speaking region, with a strong B2B/SaaS background but no sector limit; reserves part of each fund for follow-ons. Team, timing and technology are its three selection criteria.
