Overview

bmp Ventures AG is a Berlin venture capital firm, active since 1997, with a second office in Magdeburg. It has managed 11 VC funds, mostly mandates for fund investors including KfW Bankengruppe, DEG, König & Cie. and the Länder Brandenburg and Sachsen-Anhalt, and since 2015 manages the IBG funds of Sachsen-Anhalt. It invests from pre-seed (Startup Gladiator, up to EUR 500k) to growth, with a sweet spot of EUR 1.5m to 5m per round and up to EUR 15m per company, often as lead. It reports over 250 investments, 120 exits and more than 15 IPOs, including Jerini, Heliocentris and YOC.

Investment thesis

Invests in innovative, scalable technology companies with clear USPs, often as first institutional investor and lead, securing at least 18 months of runway and following on over several rounds (average 2.7 rounds, about 6-7 years holding); sectors Digital Solutions, Industry & Deeptech, Media & Gaming, Life Sciences & eHealth, Cleantech & Planet Positive, Mobility & Automotive, FinTech & LegalTech.
